Lime Hill

Designed by Andrew Goodenough and completed in early 2002, Lime Hill must surely be one of the most delightful houses in Antigua.

Nestling high and central on the rim of Galleon Beach, this quality four bedroom house, furnished in traditional tropical Colonial style, enjoys spectacular views across the bay and into English Harbour, a view also enjoyed by each air conditioned bedroom and from the freshwater infinity pool.

A spacious fully equipped kitchen, with fridge, icemaker and water purifier leads into the lounge, featuring long sliding patio doors on opposite sides, enabling tropical indoor/outdoor living to be enjoyed. The rear patio door opens onto a stonework terrace, with dining facilities for ten people, for which there is a gas barbecue.

The master bedroom is on the same floor, with superking bed, large ensuite bathroom, bath, double basins and outside tropical shower. A second bedroom, with king size bed and ensuite bathroom with shower is also on this floor. Both bedrooms have their own furnished balconies overlooking Freeman's Bay.

The double Caribbean style over-arch staircase leads down to the pool area, off which is bedroom three, with dividable superking bed, ensuite facilities and shower. Bedroom four, which doubles as the cable television room, has twin beds that can be joined to make a double and has an adjacent bathroom with shower. Both downstairs bedrooms have French doors giving direct access to the pool terrace.

The multi-level garden is newly planted with exotic tropical plants such as lime, jacaranda, bougainvillea, alamander, hibiscus, oleander, breadfruit, paw-paw, guava, and mango, and is a haven of peace, kept that way by a large eighteenth century cannon (now long since retired).

Lime Hill guests enjoy, at no extra cost, daily maid service and all the facilities of Galleon Beach Resort including an hourly ferry service to English Harbour, 9am-4pm, dinghy sailing, canoes, two fine tennis courts, 24 hour security, backup generator, and of course one of the finest white sand and calm water beaches imaginable - all just two minutes stroll down the hill.

International calls can be made from the house using a credit card, with fax, photocopying, message services laundry etc being available through reception. Car hire is available at the on-site Columbo's Italian restaurant.

Galleon Beach enjoys a quite remarkable repeat booking record, guests returning year after year for over 20 years not being unusual. Indeed, one English couple have been coming to the area for 40 years, which speaks volumes for this unspoiled, tranquil and friendly place, a True Paradise.
